Cyberpunk is a sub-genre of science fiction and usually represents the dark side of technology in dystopian futures. The name itself was coined in 1983 by the writer Bruce Bethke in his short story Cyberpunk, and the term was adopted to describe dystopian futures. Scenarios where technology is extremely advanced, but even so, the inhabitants of that planet have a low quality of life and face a technology that is growing out of control every day.

A globalized world where big companies control everything in huge monopolies. Technologies are present in our daily lives and we can hardly imagine living without the -(Sounds familiar ?). It’s also normal for these futures to be represented in places like North America and Asia. Which at the time, were the major places growing fast in the tech industry. But where are the other similarities?

America continues to be the representation of a dream, where despite everything, opportunities can always arise. Asia with its ultra-advanced technological cities and high population density, but in both places there is a lot of uncertainty about the future. As mentioned earlier, the term was coined in the 1980s and 1990s in the United States, where both were at the height of technological development.
