Do you really need to teach or sell something to grow as a Writer?

Sell. TEACH! SELL!

This is an article for writers trying to make a living. It’s not what most of my essays are about but I would like to share some thoughts with my current writer’s friend in the community.

I tried to watch recently a few podcasts and read some articles About growing your newsletter and apparently, 90% of the content outside is based on Teach Something or Sell Something to make money then people will get interested about what your posting and then they will follow you.

But what about the old fashion writing? When the writing itself was the product.How do you actually make money writing and not selling something? Almost nobody talks about that.

You need to bring value content.

Why did people buy magazines in the old days( and nowadays)?

To be entertained. To read about subjects that were interesting to them. But then how are you going to monetize this outside the “old” formats ? Well, that is the million-dollar question.

I can imagine a couple of ways of doing it. From creating a publication, finding sponsors ( which was also the old way of journalism) and of course. Provide such unique and good content that people will pay to read what you…
